Match report Devon vs CSM Gold, 18/02/2018. Exeter. 9-1

As Devon's final match of the league, and only a week on from their frustrating forfeit to CSM Blues, this match brought them out in fine spirit. New recruits meant they could not only survive a last minute drop out, but even lend CSM Gold a player to bring both sides up to 6.

A strong team of experienced hands David Brown and Will Maclennan holding the centre meant that Devon dominated the first half, with Drustan Durman scoring four goals and Brown one as Gold struggled to keep the ball in the Devon half for long enough to threaten the refs defence.

The second half started equally badly, with a long shot from Brown off the throw up rolling past George Wickenden and over the line a mere twenty seconds into play.

Golds managed to put pressure on the Devon defence with a little more success for the rest of the half, with Heather Tewnion slipping a shot past keeper Jamie Goodship roughly halfway through, and Wickenden taking to the field to play more aggressively.

Unfortunately, with the Devon defence coordinating nicely to see off further attacks and Durman scoring a further three goals to bring the Devon tally to nine it wasn't enough, leaving the Reds triumphant and finishing their season on a high note. Final score: Devon 9 - 1 CSM Gold
