All Quiet on the Western Front as Cons cruise

With hearts turning to the National Championships March 3rd, plain sailing for the Cons. Cunningham Park, Mabe. 3.30pm throw-up Referee: Matthew Russell Mylor Cons: Matt Mossop (Captain/ Goals), Mike Comyn, Josh Chant, Toby Coker, Richard Chave and Claire Seymour CSM Gold: George Wickenden (Captain), Harley Birchley (Goals), Luke Wilkinson, Daniel Martin, Heather Tewnion, Victoria McKenna 2018-2-25 SW Shinty League Match Report Mylor Cons v CSM Gold With the coveted Hanaf Kernow SW Shinty League Trophy finally in Cons hands for the first time and a couple of injuries ahead of the National Championships, Cornwall and Cons Skipper Matt Mossop sensibly opted to rest his broken foot in the net allowing The Panther out of his lair.

This year sees Cornwall attempt an unprecedented four National Titles on the trot, so with no less than 6 of the Cornwall 1st on the pitch, the team talk was perhaps unsurprisingly restrained and quality ball over brute force the order of the day. Josh Chant was in imperious form, commanding the game from BuckShee Back finally smashing the Cons traditional slow start to open the score sheet on 8 minutes. With Chave doing his level best to propel team mate Seymour back onto the Caman D’Or podium he couldn’t help but bag his third for the day two minutes on surely sealing Gold for himself with 1 match to play. New signing Coker grabbing his deserved debut goal, Mike Comyn (aka The Panther) was ranging forward looking hungry and with it looked like open season had been declared. 3-0 half time, job done, but a decent team talk had the students pushing Wickenden up to stop the rot and keep a clean sheet for them in the second half...no mean feat against the New Champions....and in fact the first time its been managed all season. Though there was not a single shot fired at the stand-in Cons Keeper...make no mistake the Cons have arrived...

Match Result: Mylor Cons 3 (Chant 8, Chave 10, Coker 22) CSM Gold 0 Player of the Match: Josh Chant
